Environmental Impact
- There will be NO Dredging under the proposal.
- At present no public pumpout facilities exist on Sydney Harbour, under our proposal there will be publicly accessible pumpout facilities at the marinas; this will have a positive impact on water quality in the harbour.
- Modern boats are now designed to meet very strict environmental standards on noise, pollution, fuel consumption and emissions.
- The new marinas will be more environmentally friendly than the current 30 year old marinas. Floating berths are preferred to swing mooring arrangements because;
- There will be no lawn mower effect from block and chain, which scours the delicate sea grass bed ecosystems from the bay.
- The new marina structure creates excellent fish habitat.
- The new structure is located clear of all sea grass beds, which will allow them to regenerate and provide a healthy bed to support a wide variety of marine life.
- As part of the proposal funding is offered to install dinghy storage racks and other initiatives to improve the environment of Rose Bay.
